Thanksgiving ’10.. Nine Days of Journaling!

November 25, 2010

Today I am really thankful for getting a long nine-day break. Even though our DSA teachers gave some homework to us  it’s okay we gotta keep busy even though we’re in break. So I am really excited for my break because I believe that we deserved it especially the seniors in DSA because of GreenBizz. We have been working so hard these past few months especially the CEOs like me l.o.l. I believe that Thanksgiving is not just a time of giving thanks but a time where it’s not Christmas yet, and families are already coming together. I definitely cannot wait to eat all the delicious food my family members will prepare for our Thanksgiving feast!

Ever since my mom’s back pain became more severe and she had to leave to Mexico to get a surgery, me and my older sister Karla stayed home alone for about five months. During this time I learned to appreciate my parents a whole lot than I used to. Now both my mom and dad are back and I am extremely grateful for that. I missed them a lot and now that we sit at the dinner table like a family again is the best thing ever. Just to have your mom and dad there by your side is the best, because I have felt what not having them for a long time feels like and it really sucked for me. I am happy they are back again and hoping it’s the last time it happens. -love you mom & dad :D

Today I am very thankful for having a huge family with six sisters and three brothers. Although they get on my nerves sometimes because since I am the youngest they want to treat me like if I was a newborn still. But I love them greatly each and every one of them. We are a big, helpful, and supportive family and that’s what I love about them. We all care for each other and I think that’s a beautiful thing we all share, is the love and respect we have towards each other.

In my life I am thankful for having a sister like Karla. She’s an extraordinary person, she loves helping others, and I am just glad she’s in my life and I know I am not the only one who believes this. Karla is always there for the whole family, whatever they need they always go to her because everyone knows she’s someone who’s caring and willing to help out in anything. That’s why everyone loves her and our family gatherings and everything else wouldn’t be the same without her jokes and smiles. I don’t know what we would do without her love and support, she’s a very special person that everyone loves. :) What would I do without cayita, cayita.

I am so happy and thankful that my sister Marisol will be celebrating with us Thanksgiving this year, she will be arriving tomorrow at 10:00 am from Anaheim, California. We haven’t seen her in a very long time, probably since last September. The whole family is excited to see her and see how big her kids have gotten since the last time we saw her. Having her there is going to make our Thanksgiving dinner extra special because we are going to have almost the whole family together, except Angelica which resides in Milwaukie, Oregon. But other than that I am really grateful for this family gathering, because it’s not everyday that we have these unfortunately.

I am thankful for all the Latinos that have made an impact and have accomplished their goals in the United States. My favorite one is the Mexican astronaut Jose Hernandez. He is the son of Mexican immigrants and with his hard work and dedication made it to NASA and has become a national hero to the many people who know what’s like living here and starting from zero in a new country. Jose Hernandez had to work hard in his studies to make his dream become a reality, and he’s definitely a person whom I look up to. He is also from the same state as I am in Mexico, and to me is a symbol of “si se puede” when you work hard and believe you can touch the stars.

My father, one of the greatest persons I have in my life. To me he is my hero, and the person I mostly trust and look up to everyday. I am thankful for having him as my father. He is an amazing human being, and not just because he’s my dad but because all of his struggles and accomplishments have made him my role model. I mean raising ten children and working in California in the fields. and not living with his wife and children just to give them a better tomorrow is something not everyone is able to do. In my life will I ever meet someone so strong and special like the one who raised me and that’s why I am extremely proud of him and grateful for all he’s done to give us the life my family has today.

I am thankful for the Thanksgiving dinner we had on Thursday. It was one of the best days ever. We had a great meal which involved a turkey of course. Almost all of my family was there, so we were all talking and just enjoying our family evening together. They are just moments you wish could last forever, when your with the people you love the most. And I am very thankful that I have lived many moments like these in my life. Moments were I have seen all of my brothers and sisters united and happy. Spending time with the family is something beautiful.

Today I was reminiscing on the days I was in Mexico on September 2010. I am really thankful that I went even though I missed a lot in school. But I spent days over there that are just unforgettable. I met many new people and met family members I had never seen in my life! I was very surprised to find out that one of my cousins was going to get married too. Anyways I am hoping I get to go next September, if not on December. I just love going to visit Mexico because it’s really fun and I can always do what ever I want, it’s great. I am just anxiously hoping I get to see everyone new I met in Mexico this year.
